What is pediatric occupational therapy?
Pediatric OT is a branch of occupational therapy that focuses on helping children with various physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities or delays to perform daily "occupations." These occupations are a child's daily tasks. Pediatric OT helps children to perform their everyday activities with success and meaning. We come alongside the child to aid in caregiver support as well, which can include supporting school staff if needed.
Common areas focused on include:
- Sensory processing disorders/difficulties
- Developmental delays
- Tricky behaviors
- ADHD
- Other executive dysfunction
- Autism
- Trauma
- Feeding disorders/difficulties
- Mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, OCD, and more
- Gross/fine motor delays
